It's finished, it's done, it's flippin awesome! I love it SO much. Tuesday Adam is coming up for the inspection, and I'm excited.
To be honest, it's not 100% done, I still need the bow perches and the long leaf astroturf (am ordering the turf tomorrow, and my dad is picking up the steel to weld it tomorrow)
Here is the view from across the patio, you can see the astroturf
Here is a close up of the locking mechanism on the weathering
Here is a picture of the view of the inside of the weathering (you can also see part of the door, with trim! You can also see the door knob)
Here is a picture of the mews, you can see part of a perch, and part of a bath pan lol
This picture came out weird... but anyway you can see the bath pan, and the shelf perch (minus the astroturf)
Here is the window, with the bars in, and the perch on the window (again, minus the astroturf, the perch will ultimaltly be replaced with a thick dowel)
Here is the close up of the shelf perch (again minus the astroturf, I feel I need to reitierate this over and over and over, because I just KNOW someone will go "you need to cover those perches with astroturf!" )
This picture came out weird also, but it's a view of the skylight with the bars in.
The bars are 2" on center, so spaced about 1½" apart.
Looks good morgan, are you going to paint? I would paint the interior white, makes it easier to see at night on the inside when you go in. Just a thought.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Morgan, You can get long leaf matts out of walmart. I bought two of them from there. The ones Walmart sell are just fine and I have it in the Giant hood as well. She has spent an entire moult perching around on this stuff and never developed any foot problems. (knock on wood) Aslo, looking at your mews pictures.... How far is that 2 by 4 perch from the barred window?? It needs to be at least 12 to 18 inches away. Your bird will turn her back on the window when flying to her other perches. Soon, after doing that time after time, she will beat the living hell out of her tail feathers from rubbing them up against the bars. Something you might want to watch out for.
hmm.. yes. It's 6 inches away, i'll have to fix that tonight. I could have sworn reading it somewhere, but i blurted it out to my dad "6 inches, i think" I knew I should have gone with my gut instint when it said "farther away"... oh well, it took all of 5 minutes to make, i'll just pop another one together.
I'll check out walmart tonight, but if I can't find it, Falconry Products USA is my back up plan.
**EDIT**
Oh kenbro - eventually the outside and inside will be painted, but i'm already in the whole with my stepdad about 950 bucks when all is said and done. As soon as I pay him back, then I will do more with it, this is just to get me past my inspection.

My doors are 2 ft wide, and i would assume he has a hose somewhere, and if not, they cost 6 bucks at wal mart. If you dont have good enough drainage to dump out a bath pan, how you supposed to wash the mew. I think you are doing awesome and your doors are perfect morgan.
my doors are 2 feet wide. they don't look big, but they are. Oh good news! I found the astroturf at walmart, so that takes care of that! Tomorrow i'm ordering the last few things (the food and leather), I'm also going to walmart and getting the turf, and my hunting license. Monday I'm getting the sheet of coroplast for my GH. My hood and glove (that I ordered last night) should be here around friday). My sponsor is coming up tuesday to fill out the inspection, and he is taking me trapping on the first weekend of october.
As a side note, the perch on the window will be replaced my a 2 inch dowel with long leaf wrapped on it, and it will indeed be about 15 inches from the wall.
So all in all, it's going good, and I CAN'T WAIT for october 6th
so i found the daisy mats at walmart, and they are just great! i've already covered my t-perch scale about to go do the shelf, i'm not going to bother with the one on the window yet because i'ts being replaced. so far it's come out good.
I bought 5 mats at walmart (i would have bought more but i cleaned the shelf out lol), a 125 dollar value from falconry product usa, for 30 something dollars ;D
**EDIT**
Oh and just a little sidenote thing, i got my hunting license to day, ordered 8 sq ft of leather, and ordered the food (69 XL rats)

I got the new perch on my winow now, and it's wrapped in astroturf, it's away from the window 15 inches (we used steel fittings so the thing could even support my weight... theoretically). I will get pictures up once the glue dries and i can cut the cable ties off.
the bow perches look GOOD!!! i'm spray painting them currently, they are on their second coat. one more coat and i'll wrap them i think.
I passed my inspection. The only things i gotta work on is weighting down the bowperches, and putting the rings on the them, both of which i knew already.
So I have all my paperwork together and it's sealed in an envelope with it's money order, were going to drop it by the post office today and off it goes!
well... i decided maybe it'd be best if i just had a different perch fabricated, one with a 1/2 diameter perching rod. 11" high at the top and connect to a 1/8" thick steel rectangualr plate measuring 24"x17", with a 6" stainless ring.
I'll look into and see if we have the supplies today at work, if not, i'll check out the metal shop down the street.
So this is what the perches in the mews look like:
I don't think any explanation is really necessary on them....
Here is what my perch looks like:
I know they aren't that great, so no comments are necessary (if anyone wants them, let me know, we can work something out, if you remove the turf and some rope, its a good perch for little hawks)
I'm going to refabricate 3 new ones to look like this (except one will have spikes):
