IMO - "indoor/outdoor carpeting" over your gravel is best it drains well dries quick and can be purchased just about anywhere but look for sales - Northwoods is definitely out of the question here - stay away from "looped" household carpeting for the sake of the talons they will get hooked.

well maybe i made a few mistakes typing i meant vertical bars as windows. but i called the DNR n they said if i use plastic coated wire on top half covered n half with the wire the i dont need a weathering area cuz here both r required nless u have certain specs. i live n georgia, i want to house a red tail. weather is hot insummer n cold n winter. i work at place called the raptor center n there is a master falconer there that will probably be my sponser
I'll get some pics of my mew and weathering area up (now finally finished) hopefully within the next few days. Keep an eye out on the "Two Mews" thread.
I like it too, not only does the weathering area give a huge area to fly in, it also protects the bird while in the mews from a lot of things, like double protection, if i had room, i'd make one of those!
