Again, thank you Yarak. Your advice and experience are greatly apreciated. I'll keep you posted on the progress. I'm probably not going to start the weathering area untill spring.

Hey I would expect the same from you. No doubt we are a diverse lot but we can learn from one another and by doing so increase the quality of our sport. So you are welcome. Anytime. Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away
Hensler My mew is enclose to keep birds in or out and a 9x9x15 weathering area a lot like Colins, nice job Colins. I'm not a salesman! check out a product called "shadecloth" many brands and price ranges, (knitted type), local rehab'er has a flying area made out of it. 25x100x25 for flyin Eagles, No problems with it , in more than 3-three years installed. EASY on the feet and feathers!(Than hog wire or chain link) I'm thinking of redoing my weathering area to shadecloth, it can be located at garden-supply houses, even Lowes & Home Depot, something to think about.
Wes, a local mfr makes a material very similar to that. I helped the university design and construct a simple flight cage out of it. We used electrical conduit and pvc for the frame and the shade cloth was attached to it with zip ties. The flight measured a little over 20'x50'x12'. It took 6 of us about an hour to set up. It was a snap. My main concern was that some preditor (dog, cat, stoned college student) could get into it easily but so far that hasn't happened. It seems to be wearing well and it was relatively inexpensive. You can lay out your design and have the shade cloth panels made to your specifications. They'll even set the grommets where you want them. Good suggestion!
There are different % of shade cloth so you can basicly pick what ever amount you want or need. As for the price....Not sure, never bought any. ;D
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day; give him a religion................ and he'll starve to death while praying for a fish."
Thank you Weasel. This stuff is sounding pretty cool for a mew. Anyone else have anything to add to my little idea please do, I'm always willing to take constructive critisism and any ideas.
Hi Guy's : what she did , the bottom 4' is a sheet of THIN fiberglass, like they use on roof of portable carports, and is built on concert footing , about 6"x8" as a barrier to keep preditors out, and frame work is steel galvinized tubing, wood doesn't last but a couple years, grass floor nothing in or out!! the hold cage looks like a portable carport, with a domed top.
Sounds pretty good Wes. I'll have to post the plans I have for everyone's opinion when I transfer them to electronic version. I still draft the old way ;D
Does anyone know where to get this shadecloth stuff? They use it at the garden center on the greenhouses during the summer to keep the plants from "bolting" due to long days and bright sun. When I've asked about how to get it I was told that it was only sold wholesale, but I have a hard time believing that.
Camping suppy houses should have tarps made of the stuff too.

I'm no salesman, but Lowes, Homedepot and my local nursery supply has it, to build green houses. all carried one of the product brands of shade cloth. prices start @ $0.12 per linuer ft. Found several on sreach that make custom sizes to, like www.americannettings.com/home.htm --is only one of them. any size and shape most will install, But this cloth is so easy to work with, I don't see way you couldn't do it your self. Dont forget to ues the knitted one. stronger and doesn't unreaval like the woven does. Happy Flyin
Thanx guys! I checked out both links and added them to my Favorites for future reference. I'm familiar with Suppy, they make alot of nursery/greenhouse stuff too, but when I punched it in for a web seach nothing came up . I'll check our local Home Depot one more time, that place intimidates me somewhat...
