I am new to the Forum. I am looking to get a giant hood. I ordered one from a supplier and it was not cheap but was to me cheap made it was like a beer can. I am asking if any one knows where I can get one that is well made better thin a beer can.

Can you be specific about which one you already purchased ?

I was not trying to bad mouth anyone. I got it from Davidson's Falconry. It was mad good but not the way i was thanking it should have been. It was thin like a beer can. Sorry
Yes I called the Western Sporting and got one of the big hoods that they have. I hope that it is a good one. Will keep y'all informed.

This surprises me. I've got the micro-sized giant hood from Davidson's and I absolutely love it. After years of hauling around a heavy wooden giant hood, I still can't get over how light and easy to carry this one is. Totally worth it to me. But, to each their own I guess. I can see how a bigger one might feel a little flimsy. But my small one is one of my favorite pieces of gear.

Yeah the Davidson aluminum hoods are nice, no where near as thin as a coke can.... The guys I know who have the Davidson Hoods all like them and have for many seasons. The Western Sporting 4mm coroplast GH is super flimsy though. I have 3 local friends that have them and I'm not impressed with them. It's just not rigid , at all.
The point of a GH is to transport your raptor. Not to protect it from being crushed or to withstand abuse while the hawk is enclosed.
If you want a bomb proof GH look at Jim Hepinstalls FOREST FALCONRY raptor transport boxes. They are amazing and cost over $500. So prepare your finances for that purchase.

Mike's Falconry has a great hood at a very reasonable price. www.mikesfalconry.com/category-s/138.htm I purchased one used from a guy on NAFEX and it is worth every penny and definitely built very sturdy.
I have two of the Mikes Falconry Green giant hoods. Bought one, loved it, bought another when they went on sale. There's a few things I don't like about it, but all in all, I think was a great buy (which is why I bought a second).
