Got a quick question about my GH... scroll back to see the pics... but do you thing i should turn the perch inside and make it run the depth of the box instead of the width... for ease of putting the bird in and easier for the bird to travel??? or will this work?

Sorry for the lack of info. This is made from a discarded highway hazard barrel. I have made them for years. It weighs 12 lbs. height-28 in. width-20 in. It is red tail size. I have cut them down even further to suit coopers. It tapers upward which allows this. They last forever. It is leak proof. I put a bag of ice in the bottom when it's hot. I get them from the DOT. They are too big at the bottom so I get ones that are damaged at the bottom and cut it off. Trace out the bottom on a piece of 3/4 marine plywood and coat it well with epoxy paint. Caulk it in. The hawk is free to turn around without feather damage. It fits in my car's back seat.

on the topic of these boxes plugging into the car, a 9v battery will often keep a fan running ... i use a computer fan in the mask i use for paintballing to keep the 'fog' off the lens. i run the thing non stop for a couple hours while i'm out paintballing in teh woods. not a bad means if you find yourself transporting the bird without a car to keep the fans runnin.
also, from the reading i've done, the inner dimensions for a box for a RT are 12 wide, 24 tall, 25 deep (inches) with the perch 9 back from the door, and 8 from the floor? can someone confirm that please?
