hello , I got a rescued lanner falcon few weeks back was very weak but now doing good. Three to four of its tail feathers are broken from the mid. Please help! What should I do? Should I pluck them? I think that would be very painful to the bird and I don’t want to hurt him. Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No you don't want to ever pluck off feathers, you can risk the bird never growing those feathers back. Normally you would imp in a feather for flying purposes. However If you just leave them alone he will grow new ones during the moult.
And When you say broken do you mean bent??

I am an animal lover. Thank you all for your help!!
nanahawk. By broken I mean the whole feathers didn’t fall out but half of its feather is missing/broken.
@steveouk. I live in Karachi, Pakistan. Here pet dealers kept animals in very unhygienic conditions and keep them in tight cages. I feel very pity on them. My local pet dealer called me and asked me that if I wanted to keep the lanner or he would going to kill it so I agreed to keep it. I don’t have any past experience in falconry or with falcons. I am a breeder of Cockatiel, Indian/Rose Ringed Neck Parakeet and Budgie/Budgerigar Parakeets.
you should only pluck if broken blood feathers. just imp or let nature take its course
Unlikly to be blood in the feathers at this time of year.
sid90201 well i guess your about to get a crash course in falconry :-)
If i may make a suggestion please get hold of a copy of Ken Riddle's Book The Art of Falconry from Arabia Westward or Phillip Glasier's Falconry & Hawking it will stand you in good sted. Good Luck !
@steveouk. I am not good with books but anyways I have developed a lot of interest in falconry since I got the lanner but the problem is that in my city this sport isn’t very popular and hardly exists among people, I haven’t come in contact with a pro- falconer but reading and surfing through internet about falconry I have learned a lot. I have trained the lanner to hop on to my glove and fly to me for food but he only comes to me when he is hungry. I haven’t flown him outside cause I hesitate a bit.

If i remember right there was someone selling equipment from pakistan on the site a few months ago, you may want to contact them and see if they know anyone in your area.
