Hello everyone! My fiance and I live in Carbondale, Il. We became interested in falconry about 6 months to a year ago and have been doing lots of research. We used to live near Chicago and attended an Illinois Falconers Organization barbeque where we met lots of people that were a part of that organization. A couple months ago we moved to Southern Illinois and it seems that there are not very many falconers down here. We would love to apprentice under someone close to us after we have become more active in the sport in this area. I was hoping if anyone knew where we could get a hold of someone nearby who can help us get introduced to Southern Illinois falconry. We would love to attend some meets down here and meet people but we are a little unsure how to get started. Any and all information is appreciated! -Briana

I just learned today that it is illegal to have a raptor within Carbondale city limits. That complicates things....I have a sponsor though, and my test passed. So now I have to work around ANOTHER hurdle!
Congrats on passing the test and getting a sponsor. Another member on the forum has recently gotten their local laws changed, you might want to read through that thread to get an idea of how it worked.
