While out hunting the other day the hawk crashed and snapped off his talon. All that was left is the bone from the toe the whole sheath is missing. I put blood stop powder on it right away. The next day I went in and we took care of it this is how we did it. We took a plastic tube used for covering needles and cut it to the length needed rounded the top and bottom so it would fit around the toe then taped the edges to keep it from cutting after that we taped it onto the toe over the end to keep it protected but the end is open to allow the air to get into it. after some vet wrap was used to keep it in place more and after a few days it will come off and I will apply clear nail polish to protect it. Some pics the best I could get.

Is this saying you have exposed bone or did the talon just snap off at the base where it grows from the toe leaving the soft tissue of the talon exposed?
If your bird has exposed bone then it needs to be seen by a vet immediately. Infection would be a huge concern.
If it is just soft tissue damage from the broken talon it will heal on its own. If this is the case I would pull the bandage and not use nail polish on it. Depending where the break is the talon may not grow back or may grow in deformed.
