This was a great kill she pulled it off of a limb as it was crossing the creek and took it down to the water and seemed perfectly content holding it under water.
Charm pulled a fox squirrel off of a branch last season and hit it in a shallow creek and held it underneath the water, drowning it.
"Falconry is not a hobby or an amusement; it is a rage. You eat and drink it, sleep it and think it. You tremble to write of it, even in recollection. It is as King James the First remarked, an extreme stirrer up of passions." --- T.H. White
Christmas day I watched an egret stalk, snatch, rinse off and swallow a large rodent - whole.
He rinsed him off a couple of times, but didn't seem concerned about drowning him. I guess the choke hold he had on the critter was sufficiently disabling.
He did need a couple of drinks of water to get him down whole. I know, not falconry, but hey, I get my kicks where I can.
