COOL!! very cool, how , what, when, where. please elaborate on the getting your bird back. weight , condition and how he was lookin' at you like where have you been!!!
Congratulations! HH can be amazing birds...one of my mentors lost her HH for THREE MONTHS, and after 1 or 2 sitings and hours and hours of driving (and many wanna-be sitings, i.e. 4 redtails, 1 rough-leg and a bald eagle) she was literally talking to someone that "saw" her HH and here she comes barrelling through the back yard.
13 weeks to the day, with black feet, a big ol' squirrel bite through one of them and a keel the size of mt everest. She ran outside, tossed a rat on the ground, which the HH dove onto, gathered her up and took her inside to check her out.
Congrats on finding him again!

Yeah, we got TONS of calls on RS and RTs. But in the end putting the signs up was worth it because thats how we got him back.
Its kind of a funny story actually. In a subdivision not far from where he was lost, there is a conservation area with pond and marshy areas. Perfect habitat for marsh rabbits. After week of looking, we got a call saying "There's a weird looking hawk eating a bunny in our neighborhood". I left the dog at the vet (who was very understanding) and rushed over there. There he was, covered in muck, eating a rabbit. Other than being a bit on the fat side and smelling like a port-a-potty, he is completely fine. Needless to say, my sponsor (his owner, who arrived moments after me) is very relieved. The people whomade the call were very nice and very interested in falconry. They are going to go hawking with us this saturday.
