My sponsor lost his kriders red tail last saturday up here in the far north west corner of missouri. If anyone has seen or sees it, please let me know. Also, if anyone is looking to get rid of there red tail, please let me know because my sponsor may be interested.
Best of luck to your sponsor finding his Krider's! With the migration in full swing, I'll keep my eyes peeled for her here for a while. She may come down with the migration. Hope your sponsor gets the Krider's back, or a new red-tail if not!
Good luck
Bridget

I'll be sure to keep my eyes out....was she wearing her field equp? I've seen a few kriders hawks in this area lately, tomorrow morning on my drive to work I will stop and try to check them again without bumping them...some are really flightly but there is one who seems pretty ok with me staring at her...if not tell your sponsor I have some pretty nice dark morph passage birds...if he is willing to trap them you two are more than welcome to drive down to my area...I think its about a three hour drive....but there are at least three passage birds, two of which are within the same city limits....anyways good luck on finding her and I'll be sure to keep my eyes out...if by chance I do see her I'll set the trap.
Meagan, Just a word of advice, it is technically illegal to trap a bird for another falconer. You can trap it if you have a band and space on your license, band it and then transfer it to an eligible falconer. But technically it is very illegal to trap one and then hold it for another falconer to come and band. Some folks in Colorado got burned for doing something similar a few years back. Doesn't seem fair, but dems da' rules! -Joby

In my state it's legal for a licensed falconer without a trapping permit to trap a bird wearing gear. But we're required to report it immediately and there's a limited amount of time that the bird can be kept - a month I think. If nobody claims it by then you can release it, put it on your license (if there's room), or transfer it to another license. Usually they're able to track the owner by the band, but sometimes you can't read it.

Hi Tyler, What you described (trapping a lost hawk wearing equipment) is legal anywhere. As FB said, this isn't what Meagan was talking about. She was offering to trap a wild hawk for the person and holding it for them until they could get it, which is not allowed. -Joby
I was trying to say that if I saw the hawk in my area, which is likely due to them living north of us and its right in the migration path, that if I saw their hawk with the equpt still on I would be more than willing to help trap her for them and meet them to give her back to his sponsor. I was then saying that if they were not able to find her that we have passage dark morphs here if they wanted to trap them...I never said that I was going to trap another hawk for them...just that if I did see their bird I would be more than willing to help trap her so that his sponsor has her safely back with him...I know its highly illegal to trap another hawk..I am a first year apprentice, I have room for only Zoey...I would not/do not break the law. Sorry for the confusion....

I'm not sure what you're talking about.... i was saying that Meagan said that they were welcome to come down to trap a bird themselves. See her last post.
