We spent $100 on all supplies, and this is what we built in 2 hours.... its about 92% done, we have about 40 minutes more to go, but we started too late today and it started getting dark. Let me know what you guys think....

Noticing the trees around you id say you dont have danger of snow load but i still think you are going to pay as the building doesnt have alot of structural support. Make sure to paint it real well as OSB tends to turn into a sponge when it gets wet .
Good intentions but id be willing to pay more to build something that is bulletproof hypotheticly speaking.

Hello, Thanks for the input! There's actually more work we got done to it, but I didn't take pics of it yet as it started getting dark, but we put more support beams in between the ones you see in the photos. I'm also going to coat the mews with a rain resistant substance that allows the rain to slide right off.

He's in central FL so it hasn't seen snow in probably 50 years but hurricanes are always on the horizon.
You will surely need to have some good tie downs and hurricane straps for the roofing. I would have gotten your corner posts longer and buried them a few feet deep to help anchor the structure. Then all you would need to worry about is how secure the roof was.
What are your plans for the flooring? I just left my floor open and put down a foam mat that I hose off every few days. I keep my bird tethered at the present time though.

Hello Mike, I was actually considering placing the wood posts into the ground, but was persuaded to do other wise. As for the roof, if was just going to Nail it down with a ton of nails across the beans, but if you really think it's wise for me to purchase straps to hold it down, then I will do so. Where I have the mews located is actually on the side of the house inbetween the house, and the fence, so hopefully that will slow down the winds just a little if any hurricanes do come my way. I'll finish constructing the mews today and post completed pictures and all.
Well the way I see it would be that the weakest part will go first. So if the roof is on good but the structure isn't secured to the ground good you will most likely have the complete mews sliding through the neighborhood. I understand it's a small space and it may not be practical to dig there if there are pipes or cables or whatever underground but I'd still try to come up with some plan to keep the mews grounded. The hurricane straps are up to you really. They are cheap so I'd pick up a couple but that's just me.
I've been on I-75 and I-95 and seen the damage those hurricane's can do. If it can pull parts of a roof off a house or blow down power poles or trees then it can surely blow your mews around. Convince your family that the wind could blow your mews into your house or your neighbors if it's not anchored good. To each his own but I'd do whatever I could to prevent it being destroyed.
