I Don't know if this is needed too much, but I'll just put it up for the people needing to know about it.
Falconry Facility Requirments
The following is a list of minimum requirements for facilities for keeping a hawk or falcon for use in faclonry:
FEDERAL/STATE RAPTOR FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT ROUTINE.
This part is what the inspectors go over, so construct, and strive to keep your mew at, or above these standards. The set minimum Dimensions are 8'x8'x8' anyways.
MEWS (INDOOR FACILITY)
Space to Allow easy access and maintenance
Space to allow raptor(s) to fully extend wings
At least window provided
Each window with vertical bars/rods on the inside
At least one secure door - can be easily closed
Other doors, if any, serve to protect facility
Floor surface dry or well drained - can be easily cleaned
One perch of an acceptable design for each raptor
WEATHERING AREA
Space to allow tethered raptor(s) to bate (attempted flight) without striking wings on side or top of facility
Sides of facility fenced with suitable material to exclude predators
Top of facility covered with netting, wire, or roofed to exlude predators
-OR-
Top of facility open provided weathering perch(es) are greather than 6 1/2 feet in height.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
The facilities, singly or in combination, provide adequate protection to the raptor(s) from:
RAPTOR EQUIPMENT
One pair of alymeri (style) jesses for each raptor. (An alymeri jess consists an anklet, grommet, and removable strap for attaching the anklet and gromment to the swivel.)
One swivel of an acceptable design for each raptor. (Dog leash/fishing snap-swivels, and swivels with soft copper/aluminum rivets are rarely acceptable, except for use on kestrels.)
One leash of quality leather or synthetic material for each raptor.
REQUIRED ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT
One bath container, 2 to 6 inches deep and wider than length of the raptor for each bird.
One outdoor perch of an acceptable design for each raptor.
A reliable weighing scale or balance graduated in increments of not more than 1/2 ounce (15 grams)

- The Proper perch for keeping the hawk or falcon outdoors. A block for a falcon and a bow or hoop perch for the accipiter and bueto
- A fenced yard for daily "weathering"
- An adequate bath
- Shade in the summer and protection from rain and wind in the winter.
- A shed, garage, barn, stable, or room where the bird is kept at night, in bad weather, and while molting. it should be well ventilated, dry, capable of being cleaned, and provided with either a screen-perch or a shelf.
- A hawk should be fitted with leather jesses, a swivel and a leash. A hawk or falcon should never under any circumstances be caged.
- Anyone applying for a permit to keep a bird of prey should be able to meet these minimum requirments.
- Specific facility requirments are in federal regulation 50 CFR 21.
