in my house on the second storry there is a huge area and my family decided that i could use a 12*13 area in the back. i would fix it up and add insulator and ac. put bars over the windows and then would have the rest of the area as an equiptment room. i would build an weathering yard out side and would keep the mews at 85 degrees which is alot cooler tha outside. i would have a drain in the center and have the floors tillted towards it. what do you all think. ;D

that sounds pretty cool but what do ya do when the bird starts screaming? it might be kinda loud, also you might want it to be more well drained and would you have anything on top of the floor like gravel or astroturf? i would just be concerned with drainage

i am pretty worried aboat drainage and we are going to have astroturf and the walls are going to be insulated to keep the noise down a bit but i will go in there tomarrow and see how loud it would be by going in there and screaming with my sister standing on the other side of the door

A passage redtail should NOT scream. I wouldnt worry about that at all. What i would worry about-
Rain coming in your barred windows and how will you keep the AC in? If you do that, iwoudl bar the windows then put plexiglass or somethin on the outside of the bars. The reason is 2 fold- one keep out rain, 2 keep in the AC or Heat.
If you do the plexiglass idea, i dont see a need for a drain. Cover the floor with astroturf, or a rubber mat, or carpet padding or someting similar and just replace it or clean it.
just my .02 on it.

yeah the bars on the window would be out from the wall about 3 inches and then the regular window would be behind it. the drain would be there for the bath pan or would is there a way to fix that problem

yeah i dont no if crbhawking is getting a passage or not but there still is a small chance that it might scream, but only temporarily, i was just thinking of any possible situation better be safe than sorry!
Otherwise I think that is a great idea you dont have to worry about anything getting into it unless the house started to crumble on ya but that would be good because you could probably spend a lot more time with it, and having it in the house would help a passage get more tame, plus not much building and way more cheap if ya go through with it get soe pics up i would like to see em ;D

we did the scream test any ways and you could barely here a thing. also my dad said that instead of making a drain in the middle of the mews we could modify the bath pan to where it has a built in drain in it.
