This is where my mews will go. the reason it's wet is because I sprayed weed killer (don't worry, its animal friendly) As you can see, i've made some progress in the right far side. (And yes... that's all bermuda grass, and stinging nettles) it looks small, but it isn't, the air condition vent is about 3 feet wide, and 3 feet tall. the overall area (from where i'm standing is approximately 20' long and 12 ft wide (because the airconditioning unit, the space i'm limited to is 9' by 20'
This is the area will I will be putting my work bench (complete with scale, cabinets, and a mini freezer, etc, etc.)

lmfao... put a removable dowel thing over the window.. make the mews side of the wall that house wall.. make it so you can call the bird in threw the window
ah... no... i need a work space area... lol speaking of which here is an update of thw under window area.
all that's left is a few roots there and a lil clean up. I also made a lot of progress in the yard too, but its to dark and the pictures didn't come out.
Update for the backyard: So today I measured, found out i didn't need to go as far as i thought i did! ;D ;D ;D SOOOOO happy about that... turns out my final dimensions are going to be: Mews = 9ft wide, 10ft long, 10ft tall. and my weathering area = 9ft wide, 10 ft long, 10ft tall. The total dimensions will be 9ft wide, 20ft long, 10ft tall. I think that is perfectly suitable for a RT right?
Sorry the pictures are kind of dark, i took them during the night time. The dark barren area next to the grassy area is where my weeding ends. ;D
I also sprayed stronger weed killer (still animal friedly) on the stronger weeds (I found out, its not just bermuda grass...oh no... its also crab grass) Saturday, I'll finish ripping the weeds out, and Sunday, hopefully I can start building!
I've decided how i'll build it. I'll use stadium astroturf in the mews, and real grass in the weathering area. I'll use chainlink fence for the weathering area, lined with a trellis on the inside with various different perches in the mews and weathering area, and i'll extend the roof of the mews 3 feet out so she can have shelter, and then the rest of the weathering area will be covered in aviary netting.
Before you get to wild and crazy, I want you to advise you.. that most of your energy really should be spent on research right now. You should be
#1 Learning about how to pass the test #2 Finding a close sponser.
#1 Because you think you want to do this, do you know what your getting yourself into? I mean do you REALLY know?
#2 Because your sponser can help/advise you how your mews should be built. Maybe he has some sort of specifications that he wants you to have.. otherwise he wont sign your inspection papers. Or option two to have your mews inspected and passed You'll have to have DFG visit. Would you rather wait possibly months for a DFG Agent?
Also, once you hook up with somebody, and you go hunting with them.. You'll see what its like. What you yourself will need to be doing.. as often as you can. Generally its hard to hook up with a falconer, because they'll think your a "harry potter" and the only way to prove to them your not.. is to have a clue about falconry. You prove you have a clue.. by passing your test.
I understand that your excited, and you want to get started right away. I did too, but I read alot of books, I came over to visit my sponser frequently and I had second thoughts once I began to realize what a burdan and change in lifestyle it is.
But I ended up knowing what my calling in life was... and here I am.
i had second thoughts also, like Wolf. Can i do this? will i be able to? do i really want to ditch my friends alot of the time? and the big one that hurt myself asking it to myself was.. Am i responsible enough?
i can do all of those. ive proved to myself that know. but the main thing will still be. can i stay with this? Falconry is a life long commitment, you have to be ready for it. i know i am. are you though morgan?
you find out different things 'bout falconry then you did before. i know that when i first truly looked into it, i thought the birds where people loving after a while, now i know that isnt true. and im fine with it.
i want to do this for the love of the birds. being around something that is more evolved then any other thing quite possibly in its own way.
when you go hunting, falconry may not appear as what you think.
And another thing, i dont know about others, but i would never free loft a bird in a weathering area. They can really screw up their feathers grabbing on to chain link. I would really advise against it. Thats my opinion, dont know anyone else's.

I agree with wolf, you need to do more research before diving headlong into this. What if the first time you hear a bunny squeal you decide its too much and you dont want to be a falconer? I know you probably are like "oh its only a rabbit" but trust me i have seen numerous people part ways once a bunny starts squeeling. Follow what wolf said, dont start building yet. Find a sponsor and go on some hunts. Pass your test. Then build your mew.

Ethics make the individual, not the other way around.
Well that brings my total of lectures to about 2 billion. you know, I HAVE done a LOT of research, EVERYTHING i can get my hands on. I'm not a "harry potter" i know what it involves, I'm not stupid and I know how I feel. Its why I went through the bother of even weeding that mess. And I've heard of people having to set up there mews before they take the test because they want them to schedule an appointment. You know, instead of pushing one area forward at a time, I'm pushing all areas forward, so nothing gets left behind and I don't have to backtrack. Just because I'm moving at a fast pace, doesn't mean I'm not looking things over. I'm just quick at things, I plan on getting my license in spring, and building in summer... so its not like i'm building now... it just has a tendancy in my yard to take awhile to get the weeds out and killed for sure. as it is, I've got several huge piles of weeds and stuff, and my trash can is full, and won't be emptied until monday. So its not like I'm going to lowes and build things. and if it turns out that that falconry isn't for me, well then, we have a tool shed. But know this, falconry is for me. I've listened to hundreds of lectures from everyone, and know all the spiels... the time, the money, the commitment, the responsibility, the know how..... It hurts my feelings that you guys just think that I'm just a "groupie" if you will... or shall i go with something more pleasant an "enthusist". And remember, just because I joined this board in this month, doesn't mean I've known about falconry for a couple weeks. I've been anticipating this, pratically all my life. studying various things, I just have happended to find this forum this month. Don't judge me, like you judge a book by the cover. Things aren't what they appear to be.
I'm not trying to be rude, but i'm starting to get a really short fuse on all these lectures, especially when I've heard the same material over and over and over. I'm not trying to get you mad at me. I'm just explaining my situation, and it should prove something to you, to everyone, that i'm not giving up, no matter what. And to the whole "bunny screaming" thing. I have an ice heart when it comes to those things, I won't kill for fun, but I understand death as a necessity and I can handle it
