Am i the only one who thinks its too easy to get hold of birds of prey in england? Right now (if i had the money) i could buy any number of ealge, owl, flacon or hawk without any proof i know what i'm doing. Why is this?
Also, if there are any falconers on this board, i am finding it difficult to find any falconers in my area. The only contact i have had so far is when i was taught for 5 days.
But I am a moderator on the UK equivelant site to this although I think its best to frequent both equally as much as each other as they both have differeing info and totaly differing styles but many joint members
My email is dmbmth@yahoo.co.uk
Email me and I will happily sort you out with a couple of members that I know of in your area.
And I could not agree more about the fact that I can buy whatever bird I like here in the UK.
We need legislation and apprentiship schemes not 100% the same as the USA but definately similar to protect the birds we love from people who think that a snowy owl for £300 would be a great household pet for their 7 year old son. Harry Potter has alot to answer for
firstly hi to all the uk falconers i too live in england im in leeds west yorkshire.. right i have been looking for a reputable breeder as i have liked falconry for only a few months(dont get me wrong i have liked the sport for years. but recently about two maby three months ago my freind told me about his day with the birds and i fancid trying it myself. only difference was i didnt know how to. so i got on the net found some info and the ibr found a reputable breeder who told me a few more bits and then on telling him i had never done this before he straite away said he wouldent sell me a bird untill he was happy so now i meet him regularly to learn from him how to train how to make my equipment and how his birds are with me i have choosen to take in to my care a male harris hawk and i am looking forward to training my own but i do agree that it is simple for any one to get a bird and should be as i have had to do to gain mine which is june(fingers crossed). SPUD
