Watch who you're calling old. And this time of year that's all we get to do is talk about the weather. Though I will have to give the upper hand to Kitana, the weather om the east coast is a lot colder than here. Most of the time the warm air come south off the Pacific bringing warm air in to the province travels up into the Artic gets chilled to the bitter ends and then heads south into Ontario, Quebec and the Eastern sea board. Thats why Pixie gets such a cold winter and Seattle doesn't. Enough about that sSpring is coming and here in BC the trapping season is reaady to start. I've got some forestry freinds of mine plotting the goshawk nests for me. So finding a nice brancher come mid June should be easy. I'll just have to get the paper work in place. And a second mew built.
I agree about the temperature here in Quebec, but i didn't want to impress anybody... lol Minus 40 in the winter is a regular event here! ;D But yes even here spring has come, little birdies everywhere... You know you are lucky you people to have such regulations for falconry, and having the right to trap wild birds? Here we got the permit to possess a bird of prey only 2 years ago, and we can't use them to hunt yet cause they are not considered as a hunting weapon! grrr!!! We have to go in Ontario to hunt, and buy captive-bred birds... As Ontario is only 30 minutes from my location, that's not so bad, but not every falconer in Quebec is near the boarder... And for captive-bred birds, have you ever searched for a captive-bred american kestrel or RT? Me neither, and believe me I'm searching! lol ;D

Cold just depends on how you look at it. I don't ever remember it ever getting much below -30, and even that's fairly rare. As a general rule, it stays roughly between -15 and -20 during the coldest part of the winter.
again rider you're on the eastern side of the rockies and get those winds and weather from the north. I'm glad I don't get those winds sometimes out on the lake we get the winds. but with the mountains and trees the winds get slowed and the wind chills are not as drastic. We get the minus 40's and we get the dead calms where there is no wind and things are dead still.
It's 55 above outside. Am I just a puss if I'm cold right now? Course, the fact that I'm in a tang top and shorts w/o socks probably isn't helping, huh?
hey Sky it's the humidity that makes it feel cold,,,,,,At least that's what I say and everyone then agrees with me,,,,,,,,,,,but then perhaps they're just humoring the old guy.
