There are so many independant clubs out there that they can't get enough members for them. Who wants to do all the work for just a few people. There have been many attempts by falconers to break off from the CHC because some falconers were not happy with the decisions made by the CHC board. The longwingers feel like the club is all about dirthawkers and the dirthawkers feel the club is all about longwingers. Such is life.
I took the falconry exam yesterday and got 124 out of 130. I though it was supposed to be a top score of 100 with 80 being a passing grade. By california standards falconers only need to get 80 out of 130? That seems very low. Either way, I'm totally psyched. Any san diego general or master falconers looking for an aprentice?
Hey guys, Just took the test and scored 125/130. Hoping to get my sponsor and mews setup soon. Doubt I'll be able to get it all together to fly a RT this year but may have a chance at a Kestrel because I would be able to fly them longer before molt.
Mike, I fly out your way {Ramona Expressway/Cajelco} about 3 times a week. If you want to come out and beat the brush let me know. There are also some guys who fly the potato field near Lake Perris.
I'm also posting this in the lost and found, but thought this California thread might help out also.
I lost my passage male red tail on Saturday, 26 March. He still has his field jesses and swivel on. His leash broke while weathering and he has no bells on. Last i saw him was in Escondido / Ramona off of the 78 just past the Wild Animal Park heading east. I have been out every morning and every evening since but still haven't seen him again. I would appreciate any help. My email is jlopez23@nc.rr.com and my phone is 760 532 0188.
Hello, I'm in Granada Hills 91344. Just getting started w/ Falconry. I mailed out my app to CHC and ordered a few books to get started. Got my app. lics. from F&G on Friday.
I'm a metal/wood fabricator and wanted to get started on building some of the equipment that I will be needing. for example. Large falcon hood, perch(s), mew (It was suggested that I wait for a sponsor), etc.
Contact the CHC and start working on getting a sponsor. You will have plenty of time to make your equipment and your sponsor can give you some suggestions. The thing that takes up your time is finding someone who will sponsor you.

The person you see working the Burbank airport may not even be a falconer. To do the bird abatement you don't have to be a licensed falconer. At least that is the way I understand it to be. We have a guy at March Air Force Base doing the same thing and he isn't even from this part of the state. He works under another flaconer who has the contract awarded by the Air Force to a private company.
