Xerxex, Welcome! We're all new here. Some newer than others but we have the same goals... to learn more about falconry. I'm In Cape Girardeau Mo., about 190 miles north (I know, North is a dirty word ), right on the Mississippi. I grew up 4 blocks from the mighty Mississip, across the river from Tenn. I've spent a lot of time in Memphis, especially as a child. Many fond memories of Overton Park. When i saw your location, i flashed back to a few posts that Weasel and i put up several months ago... him looking for falconers in Memphis, and me looking for falconers in Nashville. I spend several weekends a year in Nashville and would love to meet some one to go hawking with (assuming i ever get a hawk ) Glad you're with us!
Hello... My name is Josh and I live in Grand Rapids Michigan. I just started lerning about Falconry a month ago and will be looking for a sponsor and hopefully obtaining a Falconry Permit once I move out of my retched apartment. I work as a bouncer in a night club and do some security consulting on the side. I became interested in falconry by accident actually, I was researching Michigan raptors trying to identify the birds i had seen while rock climbing. I've become so interested in Falconry I've actually compiled what is now an almost 20 page study guide in preperation for my future exam.
Hmmm... Rock climber, bouncer and security advisor?? We'd better treat this guy with some respect!
Welcome, Josh! Glad to have you aboard! I'm Bob. I live in S.E. Missouri. My son and I are both apprentices. Zach (son) had a Red Tail that we flew last season. We both hope to trap another one this fall. We're Both members of the Mo. Falconry Assoc. They have been a great help to us. I strongly suggest that you contact Great Lakes (i think...Jim?) and see if you can join the club. You'll never regret it! You'll either fall further in love with the sport, or learn that it isn't for you. Either way, you win. I think you'll like this site. It's our "Home away from home." Write soon and write often!
Lol if you watched me climb you might take back that respect thing. Beleive it or not you can be a horrible rock climber and still survive to climb poorly again. Health insurance is kinda expensive right now so I'm sticking to bouldering "low level climbing with no rope or harness" at the moment. Thanks much for the welcome......

My name's Dan and I'm currently in Utah. This August I'll be moving back to Jersey and I'm looking to meet some falconers to hunt with. Any takers? Feel free to email me privately also.
Hello, I just signed up for the group. I have been curious for a while as to what falconry is about. Found the message board through the internet. I am hoping to find someone in Kentucky who is already practicing falconry to observe. I just would like to make sure that my curiosity should become more of a reality. My email is: Lunabud74@peoplepc.com Thanks, Steph
Welcome to the list Steph. I hope to see you chat with the group. Were are full of info among other things..... ;D Hopefully we can answer any questions you would have. Cheers, Noel

I live in utah, where we have red tails, sharp shins, peregrines, goshawks, golden and bald eagles, swainsons, kestrels, osprey, coopers...well, lots of raptors.
It's nice to have found a forum for falconry. Anyone in my area willing to let someone be their shadow can e-mail me at starhorse2020@yahoo.com

Bob & Noel, Thanks for the replies. I am in Central Kentucky near Lexington:) I look forward to learning more. Right now, I have a few questions, but want to search the board a bit first before I bore everyone with rehashed subjects:) Thank you! Steph
