I almost finished building my mew. It is 8ft by 12ft by 9ft tall. I just need to install perches inside. I'm looking for ideas and suggestions on perch designs. I want to place a perch high in the corner where there are no windows and above the frost line. I also have two windows next to each other on the south and east side. I was wondering if it would be better to just have two perches, along each window, or one long perch that bends and is along both windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a outdoor carpet covered heavy dowel across the north west corner, where it was the darkest. Another shelf type perch along east window.
Redtail perfered corner perch to window perch. He would sit on window perch just long enough to see what had gotten his attention, then back to the corner.
I'll go out on a limb (pun intended) and say most raptors perfer perching where they feel unseen, and a corner perch works for that. My opinion.

I dont know if i agree with that completely. I havea perch similiar to your dowel perch infront of my window, and i find my RT's usually spend their time on that perch, although it could also be that alot happens there [dogs, squirrels, etc]. It also could be perch design, the redtail may just be more comfortable on a round perch like a branch instead of a shelf style.
