All right, so here's my first attempt in making Aylmeri jesses. I used very thin climbing rope (nylon is the material, I believe), and for the slits at the end I cut shorter pieces and burned the ends of both, melting them together. The knot at the end was also burned, and the slits sewn at the top and bottom for reinforcement. I don't know whether the burn-seals will be too bulky or stiff to go through a swivel, I'll have to try that when I get one in the next couple days.....but if that works, these SHOULD hold up beautifully....any thoughts?

Im honestly not sure how strong those burn seals will be for the swivel slits. I'd also add a leather button at the button end of the leash becuase the swivel will go right over that little knot. Other than that looks good!

i haven't tried this but maybe if you split the rope in two where the burn is to make the top loop and then twist the rest of the rope left on the top and burn the to splitted peices together. the twist would be for suport

If there's a center core try pulling that out then running the jacket back though to form the loop, something like a parachute cord jess. It will make for a stronger jess having a continuous strand. Kurt

--I don't quite understand what you mean by that....I know explaining it in words is hard, and I'm not comprehending, lol.
I DID try to originally split the rope for the slit, but it wasn't working so well. The core is taken out on the shorter piece, and I couldn't figure out how to make it a continuous piece of rope. This is only first attempt, there will be more ~_^
FB -- The burn seals are only half the support, it's also sewn together at the same place with doubled up thread and criss-cross stitching pattern. I've pulled and yanked and twisted on them and I can't get them to come apart, so it SEEMS strong. Thanks for the suggestions though, guys, I'll see if I can improve upon them (I have about a mile of this rope, lol)
