www.kunzglove.com I was given a linemans style 6.5" gauntlet by a friend who works for a power Co. It was the buckskin with the elastic across the back of the hand. I cut off the elastic, added a grommet & put a tassle on it . Most everyone who saw it thought it was an original falconry glove. They offer buckskin - heavy, pigskin & goatskin. A friend of mine bought a pair of the new 17" OAL Gauntlet's for use whilst handling an eagle. thought it might be worth a browse for those that do. Yes, I lost the glove & replaced it with a welders. " keep it simple "
Brian Kellogg used to use the Kunz gloves all the time until he switched over to an actual gauntlet. I hear they work great. I can get my welder's gloves for $5/pair so I'll be sticking with them. -Joe
heres an email i have from biran about welders gloves, but proof he suggest hat glove!
" Brian Kellogg to me More options 10/25/05 Matt, I don't think much of welders gloves...They fit too loose and are not very secure at the seams. They ARE better than nothing though. If you are not getting a falconry glove then I would suggest a LINEMAN'S glove available through Western States Electric in Auburn. They come in different sizes and the heavy elkhide with the 6" cuff is recommended for a redtail. They require a little modification but they will do the job. A big powerful redtail can go through some welders gloves. I know you are only 14, but this isn't exactly a "cheap" sport. Quality equipment is essential for safely handling a hawk in all aspects.
