Most unusual kill today when I went out with the Harris. She slipped a Squirrel that corkscrewed down a tree and took refuge under some nearby tin roofing sheets.I gave the sheets a kick and the Squirrel bolted back up through the tree with the Hawk in pursuit. She nailed him in the top boughs but lost footing and the Squirrel started corkscrewing down again. She came down almost vertical and nailed him again and was holding on as she was awkwardly fluttering to the ground. On the way down they both hit a bough and the hawk was footing him on the ground when they landed.Oh no,another bite I thought, as I ran in with my knife. As I got there she lost him again and he bolted back up the other side of the trunk. The Hawk had taken stand on a fence a few feet away with feathers well ruffled and beak open...It had been a good scrap. I walked around the trunk to find the Squirrel frozen on to a piece of Ivy........Dead as a Dodo. Its going in as a kill in my book. Cheers .......Allan.

Hell Ya! Way to go! A dead squirrel is a dead squirrel. Congrats! I have never had one die that way. Freakin Fox squirrels are almost indestructable Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away

Hey Noel........ Terry Large didn,t turn up for the Welsh Hawking Christmas dinner so I didn,t get to mention your regards.I,ll bump into him over the next few months when the flying displays are at the County Fairs. Good Hawking......Allan. P.S......Got your Hawk going yet..?
Oh well, Tell him when ya see him My bird is still sitting too fat. She is a stubborn bird from the start....kinda fun to figure out. She still acts really skitish in part from my lack of handleing. I have her flying across the room really well but she is still ready to go elsewhere if I don't show food to her. I am stitting with her right now and she is at 1328g's right now. She has a bunch of fat left on her keel. I feel the weight will be somewhere around 1275 for flying initially. I have to make more time for training this beast as this time of the year is pretty hectic for me.
