A RT couldn't break the skin on a squirrel for quite awhile after catching it. I have never seen a talon pierce the tough hide of a fox squirrel yet. If I let my bird break in on its own, it would take her 2 hours to eat the darn thing
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines "Give a man a fish, and you'll feed him for a day; give him a religion................ and he'll starve to death while praying for a fish."
Open year round in this area with no bag limit. If you go east of here where many folks depend on squirrel for food, they have a season and a bag limit neither of which I am sure of concerning numbers. Here in the Metro we have an abundance of these fuzzy tree rats.

The squirrels in California never grow bigger than 1 pound. I can post a pic of my cousin with his first squirrel. I'm holding the camera. That was a tasty squirrel, got him in the Auburn state rec.area.
1lbs!!!! That's a rat!!! If they are fox squirrels they can get to 3lbs.....Those are the fun ones to see the bird take ;D

Went outside to perch my bird out the other day and found a dead squirrel on the ground. The only thing I can think of is that my dogs got a hold of it as it was a young one......what a waste...
