I am not yet an official apprentice but i just found a sponsor. I have been wondering how others address fleas and tics on prey animals? Is freezing enough to kill them off? Maybe I am just over thinking this?
Most of your prey animals are caught in the late fall and winter, those parasite aren't usually a problem. At least one that a few weeks in the freezer doesn't solve. For flat flies and feather mites, I use Scalex to mist down newly trapped birds. And only as needed.

Fleas and ticks drop off as the rabbit cools. I drop them in a two gallon plastic bag immediately, then move to cooler when you get to vehicle. Joe Roy has a whole chapter on this in his dirt hawking book. Do not read while eating...
