hiya,is there a specific pitch or type of whistle for my redtail? the horn type i cant get on with because they are too long and heavy,i have chippep my teeth on them before! lol, any ideas lads? namaste,x
I thought you said you were getting a trained falconry bird ? How does he usually respond to the glove in the field ? What does his previous handler say ?
If he's not had a whistle , you are at square one with him . Buy an Acme Thunder whistle and MANY books on falconry...

No need to be snippy , I answered your Original question in my posting. Your response made it sound as if he hadn't been whistle trained , hence my response .

Any whistle or any sort of call will work--you just have to teach him what it means. Whistle (or whatever, call him by name, etc.) present the glove/tidbit/etc. so he understands whistle = come to fist for food. It doesn't matter WHAT you use, honestly, just that they understand what it equates to.

i appolagise for my sarcastic remark,i suppose i should of explained it a bit better,its a bit embarrasing saying i cant whistle lol. comments and help very much appreciated,thankyou.

i agree, get a whistle you like and get a few of them ali the same because you will lose or misplace them at times and train your hawk to them...
