My mews is 8x8, i was talking to a texas parks and wildlife person this weekend, who is also a falconer, and he said the size of my mews is enough to qualify it as both a mews and weathering area.
Sounds too good to be true to me. Any of you texas falconers know exactly the rule on this? the texas administrative codes for falconry agree with him, sort of, but the definition is very vague.
Here it is (3) Only one facility is required if it meets the requirements for both indoor and outdoor facilities.
with no discreption of the requirements. i have an email out to the person in charge of permitting, but no response yet.
any help is much appreciated.
thanx ;D
I asked my sponsor and he wasnt sure either.

he is correct, the minimum size is 32 square feet. in which you are ok. I had to find this out myself. My mews/weathering was more than sufficient at 10' x 20'. I am moving up to general this year and wanted to find out if I split my mews in half (2 at 10' x 10') and put in the same windows in both halves would I be ok, and i was told as long as you have 32 square feet and sufficient windows for weathering and sufficient cover for the mews than it qualifies. I will have in the 10' x 10' a side window 4' x 4' and a roof window the same size right above the side window. If you do the same size windows yours will be 32 square feet of weather and 32 square feet of mews. So yes, 8' x 8' qualifies in Texas.
