I finally had a chance to take some pictures of my mew. It is in 1/3 of a larger barn in the back of our house. It was previously two horse stalls that I gutted and converted over last summer. I have found a few kinks I need to work out, but it seems to be working well.
I don’t have a double door. I know I need one and it is my first summer project, but I just don’t have one now. My sponsor recommended the canvas tarp covering over the door to get me through the season and it works in the same fashion. The door opens outward and by the time the bird sees daylight or me the door is closed. You can also see the ventilation window at the top of the east wall that goes to the interior of the barn

southeast corner. His night perch goes above window height across the corner where the white coroplast is and I can install it now that he is coming readily to the fist
The seat where I have already spent many hours
This is a better view of the floor and the ventilation system used and recommended by my sponsor. The walls of the barn are at ground level so you need some way to get air around the 3-4 inch pea gravel floor. By building a retaining wall a short distance from the wall you get that ventilation. Buried heavy duty hardware cloth surrounds the outside to keep predators out.
