Go to, How to, scroll across to, jump box plans. You can modify that design, I made my box similar but 6 1/2 foot high, 4' square, inside a 20' x 20' x 6' chain link pen.
Don't quote me because I'm just guessing but I believe that this provides both a high perch and weather protection on three sides so you can in theory use this in combination with a weathering area and not build a mews.
I saw Laurie from Talons using one, they were a fast setup she had during building of the birds' mews and weathering areas.(she had recently moved) They offer more room for the bird to move about, and more than one perch surface. The only real problem I see with them is that they require a much longer leash--if a bird bates away from it, there's a broken leg at risk.
Give a man a fire and he'll be warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he'll be warm for a lifetime.
