Does anybody here house your K-bird or sharpie or other small raptor in the house? If so I'd love to see a pic of your set-up as this is something that I'm interested in doing.

I do for the initial manning and training but after that they go outside. I first keep them in a kennel (cheap version of a giant hood) but they can still see activity and once they begin to man down I use a perch and then they go outside!
I have read on kestrel fans yahoo group and in a nafa halk chalk that my sponsor lent me about many people doing this but I'd like to see a picture or get other descriptions of the set-up. I'm not implying your not right eddie but his is how I'd like to do it on my sponsor is supporting me in it and I talked to the odfw field biologist about it and he thinks it would be ok.

This is my setup. It is a swivel perch. Bout 3ft high. Put this in the middle of your living room and your bird will be imprint tame in 2 days!!! Not reallt that quick but it works.

My kitchen is way too active and would probably put a bird into shock! LOL I keep mine in the living room where they can see people all day long going in and out and I try to have them to where they can see through the doorway into the kitchen to still see all the activity but not be right in the middle of it.
Go ahead and rip it off. For the first week or 2 keep pipe foam around the pole so when the birds bates they have something to grab and also protect when they hit it. Good luck!!!
you are required to have a mew that has passed inspections but that doesnt mean they always have to stay in the mew. I like keeping my small birds inside tied to a perch for 3 reasons. 1)constant temp equals better and safer weight control 2)since they are always with you, you notice health issues really quick 3)it is effortless manning, there are always ppl around
