Here It is Thank to matt. that sketchup program is so fun.
the Mews will either be 8x8 or 8x12. heres the 8x12 version.
It has two windows one on each side i dont know what size yet. maybe 3'1/2x3'? i dont know. BIG Door opening into weathering yard. latching onto back wall of the weathering yard. double doors. maybe a little storage part. i dont know yet. and. thats all i can think of.
the weathering yard will be made of. chain link fence. it will be a grass and dirt floor. with a perch a water pan. and maybe a higher perch. i dont know. but that would be cool..lol
tell me what you think. PLEASE. lol

why the big door? its un needed to tell you the truth. if you plan on free lofting (not having the bird tethered in the mews) i understand it... but then you wouldn't need aviary netting so that the bird doesn't screw its feathers up. now if you plan on tethering the bird to the mews, you don't need a very large door, all you need is a door you can go through safely with the bird (normal door size ).
make it so it can come apart... easily transported so when you get outa your parents house and such you don't have to rebuild.
you need bars on the windows, vertically placed. the spacing in between evades me currently... *kinda busy, rushing around classroom *
because you are using chain link, id make the weathering 10x10 to make sure that the bird perched in the middle cannot hit the walls while bating.
you know i was thinking and i think i might just make the weathering yard out of PVC or something like that and wrap it in aviary netting. i saw in a post called "portable mew?" i think that some one did that. so i can take it down when i need to. and so i don't need a door at all. and i will try and make the mews portable. but i will need some hints on that.

if you do that... dont use PVC, get 2 inch diameter steel pipe. and make a cage out of it 4 sticking into the grounds as a square . . . .
and then put bars connecting them to each other
._.
so the . are bars sticking outa the ground _ are bars going across, see how that works? there for its extremly sturdy and works better then PVC. id take about... a 2'x10' peice of wood, and sourround the bottom with this so you can attach the aviary netting to that with staples or something effectivly. you may want to add a door into the weathering without having to go through the mews first... gives you a 2nd double door.
for making a portable mews
make the mews 8x8
get 4x8 peices of plywood...
make 4x8 panels that you can bolt togather
ok now i spose i should go back to making sure the classroom doesnt erupt into chaos...
where do you all get avairy netting, and is there another cheaper yet safe solution to keeping the hawk from getting tangled in it.

For The Portable W/A. im gonna use Welders wire. i think thats what its called. if its safe. or it might not be portable. just gonna basicly make my own chain link fence..lol
Ok I was thinking about what matt said so i thought up a new idea for a portable mews.
i dont know HOW to make it portable so if some one could send me a PM with an article or some plans for it or somthing. like a url or somthing that would be GREAT. anyway here it is.
it will be 8x8x8 with a tilted ceiling so the rain can run off. with shingles with plastic under them. thats what my grandpa said to do to help double protect it. he built his house on his own... pluss a few others so i listen to him. lol.
i dont know exactly what im doing with the weathering yard. so if anyone could give me any hints would be great. the cheaper the better. lol something that can be portable.

id tilt the roof away from your entry as you dont want to go in when the water is running in your head. just a thought. i used a dog kennel chain link fence ten by ten by six. i dont free loft my bird in it though and it is not connected. my windows are big enough that my division officer passed my mew as my weathering area too. this way he can go through the moult without having to stress. i dont know about other peoples birds but my last bird pretty much went wild durring the moult.
ok. ive ben reading the laws for florida and it states. "1. Outdoor (weathering) facilities shall be required and be fenced and covered with netting, wire or roof. The enclosed area shall be large enough to ensure the bird can not strike the fence when flying from a perch. Adequate perches and protection from excessive sun, wind and inclement weather shall be provided for each bird. 2. Indoor facilities or mews (optional) shall be large enough to allow easy access for caring for the raptors housed in a facility. If more than one raptor is to be kept in" it says a mews is optional. i think i might make my mews like. 10x10. like 5' indoor and 5' the weathering area. or like 4'indoor and 6' weathering area or somthing like that. what do you guys think?

id stick to the 10x10 and have a seperate weathering area. just give your mews one big window. keep it simple. remember you need to protect from weather and if it is split it is hard to do that.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when you discover that someone else believes in you and is willing to trust you with a friendship. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
