Just a quick question about the walls and frame for mews. Once a frame is constructed I plan to pannel it with 1/2 inch thick pressure treated plywood. My question is this:
Would I pannel both sides of the fame with plywood, that way none of the frame would be exposed. Or, is it acceptable to cover just the outside of the frame, leaving the 2x4 frame exposed on the inside? Or must the inside of the mews be smooth, with no frame exposed? I'm curious due to the fact that the one method uses 50% more plywood. It's not cheap! I don't mind spending money to make an expensive mews, don't get me wrong, quality and safety above all else, I'm just curious. Thanks a lot!
I remember a while back, the big thing falconers were covering the insides of their mews was with chloroplast. Just go around and collect old election signs from people... cheap, and there's always a lot of them.
Incase you're wondering why chloroplast, it's very easy to clean and it doesn't rot ;D
I framed my mew similar to the method you've been speaking of. I covered the inside with aluminum pool skin. I got it for nothing from some people who where tired of their pool. Its not the greatest color, but the hawk doesn't seem to care. I used verticle board and batten siding on the outside applied directly to the framing over a 6 mil. poly. vapor barrior. (big sheet of plastic)
I did not cover the frame work on the inside at all. Just painted every thing white for visability and looks cleaner. Also make sure all framing that is exposed is runing either vertically or 4" side against the wall, so that the bird can not try to perch on the 2 x 4.

Right now, the studs in my mews are exposed and my sponsor says it's fine. Ideally, though, I think I'd like to put some form of vinyl siding or something on the inside, to make cleanup easier and the walls smooth.
My mews passed inspection, but it really hasn't passed my inspection. I want to have interior walls, trim on the windows, paint it, and roof it, etc, etc. Just more decorative stuff left.

coroplast. i did my mews with under a hundred dollars worth of this plastic. or like it was said before, you canget the signs out. it is election time.
lucky! I made my gh out of white coroplast and sprayed the inside with black plastic enamel spray paint to opaque it out. the place charged me 20 bucks for white.
