Not jumping the gun, or building or even buying, but I found something the other day. I was going to keep it to myself, but then figured what does it matter how many people use the same design for mews. As long as the birds are happy. Is there any reason a round-ish design would not work? I found this www.strombergschickens.com/starplate_building_system/starplate_ideas.htm# the other day and thought, for the price, using one as a mews, perhaps the model that makes it 10 1/2' diameter would be great. Then you can attach another for a work area and as an extra security door. You coculd also keep adding more to the design as you get more birds over the years. Does anyone know any reason why it wouldn't work?
When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze
how.. it says 65.00 for 11 peices... depending on how big.. i thnk a 8 damiter by like 8 tall or so would be 2.5 of those sets of 11 .. thats alot cheaper then one would pay for say for lumber...? and on what to cover it.. u can cover it all in bars... or buy plywood to cover it etc.
You can make any size with up to 9' struts with one set. Yes, I was thinking mews/weathering area in one and put bars on one or more sides. It ends up using less lumber then a regular square building. I may have years to think about it, but it seemed like a great modular idea to me. Can always add more if you want to.

I kind of like this design as well and it does to me seem relatviely inexpensive, not to mention something that only requires two person assembly for maybe a day or two. Anyone else think these would work?

discovery is not seeing new lands, but seeing with new eyes
Interesting idea. The $65.00 covers just the cost of the plate fastners. You will still have to buy the rest of the materials. The web site does give you material list for some of their ideas which is very helpful.
its still probably alot cheaper then what one would usualy get though. and if u look at projects people have made, its BIG! i really like the idea.
you can make parts of it bars, or parts aviary netting. which is really nice. and considering they can SHIP you aviary netting also.. thats awesome! id probably make one side erm... triangle thngs bars. and then the rest solid, or make a couple of them bars. thats a really neat thng though..
