When I am going to collage, I will most likely have a apartment. I am wondering if I can have a mews inside the ihouse for my bird, which will most likely be a small to medium sized falcon. I have this shelving unit thing in my room, and the top shelf is about 4 feet my 6 feet, with all sides except for the front made out of wood. All I would have to do is put avairy netting (stapled to the edges of the wood) over the front and have a small door that is big enough for the falcon and my hands ( to clean) it with. Its just a question of my concern.

i was wondering if u can just keep the bird on a perch in the apartment.. and then have the mews located at my house... on the form it says "home adress" and then "mews address" so would that work?
Technically you can have your mews Indoors. but I wouldn't suggest it. Letting an sort of gov't official into your house, waives all your rights, like forever. Also, would you really want a raptor inside the house? especially with that wonderful slicing
I have friends that keep there bird indoors most the time. You just have to lay something down for the mute and casting, and clean often. Just like any animal indoors only as unpleasant as you allow it to be.

I keep my eagle inside the house during the manning process. You just put down a large plastic sheet under the perch. Then I leave the TV or the radio on all the time when I am not at home so the bird gets used to hearing the sounds of people talking. The bird is hooded during this time until I get home.
LOL that would be hilarious if you free lofted a goldie in your house, and a burglar broke in LOL It would work, to have one in your house, but the gov't would have free access to the indoors, no miranda rights
In a few weeks I am getting a rescue bird, that was kept in a london flat in a cupboard for two years.
The way it was kept was NOT acceptable.
If you can build a mews inside your house then fine! but you will need suitable flooring (no pea gravel, unless you feel like putting steel girders in your floor) like astro turf or something, that will be a real pain to clean.
You don't really need a roof or anything, but four 6x4 larchlap fencing panels that your bird could stay in would be fine, forget a door, you could just step over that.
Thats the best thing that I can think of at preset, build a mini-mews in you apartment, don't shove the poor thing in the cupboard. I think that the things that wolf speak of are more like a mews than a cupboard
When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze
Those that I know of have a mews and weathering outdoors and bring the bird in for manning or bad weather. Some just bring it in during the evening so that they are around the pets and other family members and the other noises. You have the out door area inspected. I will have my mews/weather and shop all in one building. In that will be the hawk. In the shop will be all my papers, sink and other equipment. I will also have a fridge so that food is in the same building. If the food or papers are in your house, not just the bird they still have the right to go into your home. I will be bring the hawk in during manning and bad weather also.

I am just about the same as Kenbro. I have a freezer in the garage right now until I get the power out into the mews area. The electrican guy keeps putting me off on that. I still bring the birds in when I am manning them so that they are around all the activity in the house. The feds/Game and Fish are not coming into your house unless you let them. As far as anyone is concerned, my birds are in the mews/weathering area unless I am hunting with them. I had the Game and Fish here to inspect me and i invited the Game Warden into my house because I had nothing to hide. All went well.
LOL... decent hours... "DFG Officer: Hey Phil! The suns starting to rise, its decent enough!" I suppose you could let them in, if you had nothing to hide. So i guess it wouldn't be a problem. But still, I don't like the idea of forfeiting your rights (as my government teacher always told us, "never let the authorities in!")
