has anyone, or does any one know anyone who has built a mew with an attached and enclosed weathering area that would allow the bird free loft access to the mews and the weathering area? Is this a bad idea? and if so what are the detractors?

I have seen a few that way but I don't know what could be wrong about it. That being said, I am looking at building a new mew this summer exactly like that. I'm looking at a 8'x8'x16'. 8'x12' would be weathering area with an 8'x4' inclosed light-tight "mew" on one end. I am just trying to decide how to place the perch in the "mew" part.
there is a great combo one on modern apprentice.. go here www.themodernapprentice.com/mews.htm and explore around, it has different designs, and even one that is a weathering area on one side, and a mew on the other
Oh yeh, I plan on making a separated mew and weathering area, but connecting them together, essensially making a double door. So i'd end up walking through the gate of the weathering area then the into the mew.
