I'm sure that everyone is already aware of this, but in case some of you haven't heard, the cost of the federal falconry permit will increase from $25 to $100 as of May 11, 2005.
Rehabilitation and propogation permit fees will also be affected. I'm not certain of the costs assiciated with those permits, but here's a link to the final rule that was published in the Federal Register:

What I don't understand is why they need to charge us 100 bucks after saying they don't need to regulate us? My sponsor says that we will only have to pay the $100 once every three years because of our state rules we don't have to renew each year. Is that true for anyone else? And is it tax deductable??

Well, the fee increase was proposed last year, before the revised (proposed) federal regs. Still, it's hard to believe that they didn't have some idea then about eliminating the need for a federal permit.

I don't believe that a falconry permit is tax deductible. Anyone else know for certain? Our state will also issue a three-year state permit so we'll have to pay $100 every three years as well. That is until the new federal regs are implemented (assuming they are approved as proposed), which will take at least another year, more likely two.

I sent in my permit for $25 dollars and they told me I needed another $75. My dad freaked out My mom said she would pay for it though. Which is a shocker
