my design is very, very complicated. I went to petsmart and purchased a medium pet porter, used quater inch plywood to block out the windows and the doors, drilled 10 1" holes along the bottom, added a 2x4 for a perch near the front and took the bird hunting in it. The whole design cost about 60.00 and took me about 45 minutes to make. I have been using it for 8 years now. Don't overthink/overengineer these things guys.......they ae only to transport your bird fron point a to b not a home away from home. The plastic pet porter is sprayed with pan cooking oil on the inside before we go hunting, if she mutes in the box, I simply turn it over in the front yard and hose it out. The pam won't let the mue stick to the sided or floor so it's simple to clean and sanitize.
If you build one out of wood, build it well. Most falconers I have seen only get a few seasons worth of use out of a box before having to re-do or rebuild do to the wood construction. When you finish it use a finish that is waterproof, you'll thank me later.........doxie
I made those hoods & that is a wood burning on the doors I did myself. I make one every year and put on our raffle table at our meet, I use to sell them but shipping became a problem.
