"I was looking on your web and was reading about flying from a field perch. Its a great way to hawk a Harris. I used an extension handle and a paint roller. The paint roller is mounted on top of the handle T fashion and extended to the height you want. this gives your bird a better shot at the slip.most hawks catch on to this real quick. I,ll more than likely do this with years bird. Its kinda nuts but real fun. Some of the older guys gave me a bad time at first but after seeing it they got into it.I wish I had some pics to show you."

Here in southern Idaho you almost have to fly with T perch like you describe to catch jackrabbits in the sage. Goshawks are theonly ones I see flown right off the fist at jacks. I have a T perch however I didn't use it very much because this year I was flying cottontails (which are so much fun). This moult I am going to train her to the T perch and hopefully be on jacks next year. I have seven seen a pair of harris hawks flown off the same T perch.
