That's more of a personal preferance. I know folks who swear by the anglo and others swear by the dutch. I have both and they work equally well. I only prefer the dutch hood as it basicly...looks better

DAMN, that is EXACTLY what i was going to type The hood SHOULDN"T be a bad thing. It should be just another part of training.
Good point.
For what it's worth, Gary Brewer, who is unquestionably one of the most knowledgeable falconers with respect to the RT, is a big proponent of hooding RTs.

Yes he isand he helped train the great Yarak. Most of what I tell you people came from him. If he were on this site you would likely get some of this info in "stereo" Yarak
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far away
I just got a new one piece molded Indian hood it is a little big but it works great for a hood and lets me practice hooding on my bird. Now he just sort of closes his eyes when he see the hood and almost puts his head into it...
I like it better than the Anglo Indian Hood I have from Northwoods. Eventually I wouldn't mind getting a Dutch hood to see the difference for myself. BTW the gortex braces are actually very nice, I wasn't sure how I would like them
What type of hood would you guys recommend for use on a male RT? By that I mean Anglo Indian, Dutch...ect. Just wanted to know what you guys use and why they are good for RT's.
[glow=purple,2,300]I got a couple of questions, luckily reading this elimanted 2. Now I probably could ask a single person, however I wanted a bit of opinnion. I was wonderig what the advatages ad disadvatages of the different kinds of hoods. Which hoods are used on different birds. What is a sprig-wire brace? Reading a site this is what I found. Arab- smooth and tends not to catch birds crest feathers. Dis- easier to toss off. Dutch- catches crest feathers making it difficult to get take off. dis- can irrate the bird. preferred by the author. Thats what I got . please correct anything wrong. Any links, photos, source of information I can look into (I am saving up for books.) [/glow]

[glow=purple,2,300]After further interogation I have come up with what a spring-wire brace is. Now for someone to correct what I got. 'Some hoods are made with a spring on the back so once it is seated it snaps shut. Used for a bird who doesn't hood easily.[/glow]
Never settle.

Now I could be wrong but if I remember what Frank Beebe told me that a spring hood should be used after a bird has accepted the hood as a regular occurance as the spring hoods are easily tossed off. Thou it's possible I have the wrong kind of spring hood in mind. Chris
you are correct chris. Its also difficult to hood a hood shy bird with a spring hood. This is read, not experienced, as you basically have to get this huge (larger than a hood) object near thier head, and then CLAMP it down. At least thats the way the birds gonna see it.
I have heard of thier use mainly with accipiters who require being unhooded quickly when game is spotted.
[glow=purple,2,300]i want something other than the internet. Its starting to fail me. I will correct my notes then.[/glow]
Never settle.
