It is my bird!! This is Katana's third season and we are just getting going. I have been trying hard to find new fields often with no success so the trust in her falconer was waning. While it was a hot and miserable day, any day that I have a long tail chase resulting in game is a great day. Something to remember Beth, there are plenty of times you will go hunting and not take game. As long as Katana is chasing hard that is what falconry is all about. Please do not get caught up in the head count game. It is sometimes hard to resist, but the test of a good falconer is not how many kills you have, but rather that you are flying your bird to the best potential and challenging her each day to make her stronger. As far as trapping goes, you do not have to drive that far to go trapping! Drop Kenny, Sheldon or I a line and we can hook you up with some falconers in the DFW area to go trapping with. It really is a blast!
**Sorry that this hijacked uthawkers thread, however it was started in 2006 when he caught his first rabbit, so I am sure he does not mind. I think Beth thought it was a general thread for a first hunt, first kill. **
