Hello all. I'm a pre-apprentice based out of Eugene. While looking into local clubs I naturally stumbled across the Oregon Falconers' Association website, but when I reached out to ask about upcoming meets (as the last meet-related post was from several years ago), I got a bounce-back from their email server about the email being invalid. So, I guess I'm wondering if anybody here is an OFA member, and is so could you give me some current information about how to get in contact with your organization? I'm at the stage where I've done extensive reading and research, but I want to see the sport firsthand and up close to know for sure that it's for me, and I need to get in contact with local falconers to accomplish that.
Pull up the North American Falconers Association (NAFA) website, and look for NAFA Northwest Regional Director Cliff Kellog's phone number and e-mail address. He lives in Oregon, and can most likely help you get in touch with the Oregon Falconer's Association.

Thanks for your time,
Which website were you on? There are 2 of them, and one is no longer in use. The OFA just had a picnic and meetup about a month ago. We have about 40 active members out of the roughly 150 falconers in the state of Oregon. We have several members in your area, so feel free to respond and I’ll help get you on the right path.

I am also in the “pre-apprentice” stage. I live in Umatilla County, and have not seen or heard of any falconers in my area. Does anyone reading this know of a potential sponsor in Morrow or Umatilla County that I could get in touch with? I have been reading and watching videos. Any direction is appreciated.

The official website for the Oregon Falconers Association is www.oregonfalconers.com (as opposed to the old site found at oregonfalconers.org). While the club seems to have a policy of not helping to find sponsors as stated on their website, if you reach out to them, they can possibly help. Additionally, Roxie Borisch at ODFW is extremely helpful, and would be your main point of contact if you become licensed. Give her a call and she will let you know which falconers are willing to take on an apprentice. All Oregon falconers are required to do an “Annual Report” every year, and part of that document is to indicate if they are available to mentor. Hope that helps.
