Greetings, I have been seriously interested in falconry ever since I took a course on raptors a couple years ago. From then on I have been reading and researching as much as I possibly could. Unfortunately, the internet does not have any information on the rules and regulations here in British Columbia. I have been looking for information for about year now and haven't found anything helpful yet. Any information regarding the rules here would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the information! I've checked these websites before but they don't contain the information I want and need, such as what bird an apprentice can have, mew size, etc.(I assume that as a apprentice I would have a class 2 permit, but that would mean I could get anything but a peregrine or a gyrfalcon.) I haven't joined a club yet but I have attended 2 raptor camps and am going back for a third year (they talk about the care, handling, etc. But sadly, no one there is a falconer!) I have been researching for about a year and a half, but haven't gained much information about the regulations in BC. Only about 4 websites even talk about falconry in BC, the rest are all talking about when falconry started or the Bal Chatri trap.
This is on the first site I linked to: Wildlife Division of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, located at 200 - 10428 153rd Street, Surrey. Their telephone number to the receptionist is 604-586-4400.
