... The main issue is they can be seriously hurt by not being able to see where they are going . If they Bate or fly off the glove they will Likely collide with something in their path. They will still spook while hooded, if you stumble while carrying them or there's a loud or sudden noise they can and some will, bate . Some hawks are incredibly stable and calm on the glove, some never are. I don't think it's "Messed up" that you asked the question if you don't know an answer. It's always better to ask than to go blindly ignorant to the reasons of safety and preparedness when concerning handling a wild raptor. You've shown more initiative and willingness to get into falconry in your posts than most do at all. Keep it up, your attitude is refreshing. Don't let any of my opposing views or those of others here scare you off from trying . We are an opinionated group but mainly for the safety and wellfare of the raptors we covet.
Some people just need to get their own season started and not focus on being snippy towards pre-apprentices asking appropriate questions.

Thank you Echo, Dave, and Sky. I appreciate all your help and advice!....I volunteer at a wildlife rehab facility, and we don't ever hood our education birds so I don't have any experience with hooding yet.....my sponsor and I are hoping to get together soon to go trapping, so hopefully I can learn more then

as lucky as we are to be able to fly and work with raptors, although it is not rocket science a few rag on others due to instability or incapability, either way we all still have the ability to pass along our experiences. so take it all with a grain of salt and listen to your sponsor, we are all a plethora of information.
