In the next picture you post, do you think you could place a book or a football or some object in the picture with him for scale? I know he's got to be getting big by this point and I'd like to see just how big.
How are you performing the hack ? Will he be out on his own for days / weeks ? Or will you be doing a few hrs a day/ evening every day? Looking awesome, thanks for sharing the progress. Very interested to see how it all goes. Skyrider you were right, straight up muppet from the Dark Crystal movie especially the last picture of him on the perch with his wings down! He will haunt your dreams

Echotadog, I am not sure how this hack will go. I am putting him out mid morning and feeding him through the day. I put him in a tree where he can jump around. I left him out last night, picked him up this morning then back out mid morning. I guess I will let his behavior determine how long he will stay out. He was active through the night. He was on a deck where I feed him often this morning and looking for food. I saw him look hard at some ducks this afternoon but just looking.
No name needed there is only one in Upstate breeding them! I look forward to hearing how he does I either saw the chick or the eggs of your bird at some point this spring itll be neat to hear how he progresses!
Hack. I left the farm yesterday. He was exposed to many kids, adults, tractors, trucks, busses, etc. I would have to say this owl is very well socialized. I am going to continue hacking him in NJ and NY. I will post some pics from the farm soon.
I picked up the owl from the breeder at 16 days or something. He was already self regulating body temp. He was hand fed from the time he was pulled from parents.
Owls have stupid eyes!(look up stupid eyes on youtube) He can't see for about 6 inches in front of his beak and has a hard time eating. Perhaps this is the reason so many people cant transfer their owls off kills? Remind me to show the way I transfer in case I forget.
Skyrider. Crap pic but thats a top half of a quail(8 oz). I still can't get a decent pic of him with anything!
