OK, here we go and after much talking into here is my log of building a new Mews/Weathering Area.
After moving i have to build a new mews. This time round I'm doing a few things differently. First i never actually used my mews for any length of period. I always ended up using my weathering area at my previous house.
I have been bringing my hawks/falcons in at night to help with weight control and for safety reason.
So with all that in mind i decided to build like a hybrid mews / weathering area. I will be making it 8 feet by 16 feet and 6.5 feet high. 3 sides will be EMT bars, with a double doors. There will be a dividing wall in the middle
This will be just one side ( the 8 foot side ) The bars are 5 feet in length and the last 1.5 feet will be regular siding.

Should be beautiful! I really like using those bars for windows. If it's open on 3 sides will the bird have enough protection from the weather? (I have no idea what the weather is like there)

Ethics make the individual, not the other way around.
there will be a dividing solid wall in the middle and it will be facing a privacy fence that will be two feet in front of it. In bad weather ill bring the birds in the house

If it were me, I would only bar out 2 sides max. On my mews, I have one side with bars that faces south. This is enough for the birds to move in and out of the sun as they please and it is still tolerable in the heat. Even with the 100+ degree days we have had this summer, the birds aren't suffering with a single barred wall. Here is what I have. What you are seeing is two 12 foot chambers with the bars about 8 1/2 feet.
No. It's been way too hot with 110-117 degree heats. By 10am it's too dam hot to be working in the yard and it don't cool down till after 10pm. The forecast for next week is in the 90's so hope to get some more done then. As long as the inspection is done by the Sept 10 th i'll be good for the year.
Spent most of the weekend working on it. Decided to make it a bit smaller due to financial reasons but i made it modular so that if i wanted to expand it at a later date i am able to do that.
it's siding on OSB. Each sheet costs $26. I used the regular OSB before and it was alright. I don't plan to free loft but will add a double door at a later date.
