I also saw that site but it has very little information, and it seems hard to reach them. I am also new but it seems very hard to get started in falconry.
The New Jersey Falconry Club holds 2 events each year. A Picnic in the summer and a Field Meet in the Winter. The Field Meet usually takes place the 3rd weekend in January. The last 2 meets were held in Monmouth County. Information about the meet is usually posted on the website 3 or 4 weeks in advance of the meet.
There are no places in New Jersey where you can take Falconry Classes.
Attending the Winter Meet will provide you with a potential opportunity to tag alone with some Falconers for a day. Suggest you show up early and ask around to see if anyone will let you join their group for the day. Also suggest that if you find someone who will let you join their group that you watch, listen, and be respectful of those flying their birds when you are in the field, and hold any questions you might have to ask at the evening banquet.
Yes you are correct. It is very hard to get started in Falconry. All Falconers and anyone who has done their homework on the Falconry Life Style and Commitment Involved has a clear understanding why.

Good morning
I am interested in getting started in Falconry, and I am also in NJ.
I was wondering how you made out in your search, and if you have any pointers?
Like you, I received no reply from the same website, and requested an information packet a few weeks ago as well.
I am going to contact inter-library loan to see if I can get my hands on some of the apprentice books mentioned. Do you have any recommendations, for the test, and in general that were really good?
I am also in New Jersey, just starting out. more difficult for me to build a mews where I am. As of right now, I am just reading the literature and preparing for when I do build the mews. I am in Bergen County, where is everyone else from?

I have been interested in Falconry for a long time. I read there are only a few falconers in NJ and I missed the winter meeting. I read that there was a Summer meeting. I would be interested in going if I can make it.

It is a shame that you missed our winter field meet, it was one of our biggest yet with over 100 members & guest in attendance!
We have a very active club & falconry community in NJ. We (The NJ Falconry Club) hold two events every year, the winter field meet in February & the summer picnic. We also have a table set up at the state's outdoor expo in September. We will probably have at least one apprentice workshop sometime during the year.
