Hey I am currently designing my mew and i have ran into some questions i would like answered:
1: I've seen many mew designs that incorporate putting 2x2's instead of wire for the windows, is there a certain spacing that they have too be?(i know the have to be at least smaller than the birds shoulders).
2: is there a certain way to place your windows? but since i live by the beach the coldest winds are coming from the east not the north also we get those torrential downpours and the rain never falls strait always at an angle.
3: does any one use wire for there windows i seen a lot more with the 2x2's than wire. Is there a certain hole size?
if you can answer these thanks it would really help because now I'm stumped kilroy

we dont use wire for windows at all. now you can use rod or pipe of some sort. I personally have #5 rebar for my windows but that is because of security reasons. the spacing has to do with the size of bird you are going to have in there (mine are 1 1/2" spaced). the reason that allot of people use 2X2s is that they are cheaper. others have used electrical conduit with good results.
as for the placement of windows that would also be a factor of the design of the mew so if we could see a mock up or what you are planning on building or even a pic of what you have so far we could tell you the best design at that time.
