Yeah I'm out of home brew that is ready to drink. I will finish the roof tonight but it is going to rain so the paint will have to wait. Then the fun of digging up the rock/soil to make the floor

So It's been awhile since I have built a new mews, my old mews has metal conduit for the vertical bars and looks very nice, but over time they do rust, I have a friend that just put in plastic 3/4 PVC pipe for his window bars and I am thinking of doing the same, I will probably go with the PVC pipe- any negatives anyone has encountered with the PVC? like cracking or bending or anything else? I like the windows on this mews very clean and looks sharp. Any thoughts?
If you're in an area where it gets cold during winter, some PVC over time can get brittle and crack from what I've been told. Plus, it's very flexible over distance and could be easily cut or knocked out. I've heard of people putting rebar inside of their PVC pipes however to give it greater ridgidity (sp?). -Joby

Ya, I have heard the same, just wanted some input, I'll probably go with the "painted" conduit again and use screws- if they rust out I'll just change them with new ones, it's just I hate doing things twice and I must build to the wife's building code= must look nice. A happy wife is a happy life. Butchie
If you want to make them rust proof spend the money to cad plate them and then buy some spray on rubber paint and cover it. Cad plate is poisnous so I reccomend painting it for protection. I did this for my bow perch and works great.
I used spray painted conduit for my mews in Maryland. I got 12+ years out of it before I pulled it when I was getting ready to move it looked to be in great shape. Maybe they don't make conduit like they used to but I didn't see rust as even a small issue.
