All you California falconers can look forward to your falconry license going up again next year. The state is broke and they are already talking about raising your car registration another $15 per car. My state {NM} has always been broke so things shouldn't change for my falconry license or car registration.
Alright CA falconers....just to let you know what I have encountered. We are now REGION 8 for USFWS, NOT region 1. As instructed, I sent my check and copies of my paperwork to region 1 and was wondering what the devil was taking so long. So I called and after 3 phone calls found the NEW USFWS regional office for CA and NV. Want the number? (916) 978 - 6183. All the paper work region 1 had has been forwarded to region 8. So if you don't have your permit now, you're going to be waiting another 3 WEEKS!!!!! (As long as it's by October, right?) Please give USFWS a call and ask them "hey, what's going on with MBP's?". Maybe we can all get our permits faster then.
ps - region 8 is based out of sacramento
In the end, we only protect what we care about, we only care about what we know, and we only know what we're taught

It's been almost two months sence I've resubmitted my paperwork. The state deposited the check a month ago. Called several times and left messages to both state and fed, no return call yet. Has anyone figured out the time frame for the feds sence the move? Is there a best time or day to call? The fed voice mail states they only have a part time person.

Received a response from the feds over the weekend. They are pushing to have all permits finished and mailed early this week. So hopfully should have permits by this weekend.

Hearing all of this from the state and the feds kinda makes me not want to practice falconry it was always a high goal in my life to practice the sport but it puts a giant damper on things now???
