My mews are almost finished. I just have to mount the perches and put in the food shoot. I'll work on the perches this afternoon and add a couple of inside pictures later. All the framing other then 4"x4"s and the beams that support the roof is on the outside.
The dimensions are 12'Wx8'Dx8'H (with a pitched roof so it's taller than 8' in the middle.
It's pretty much the same as my sponsor's mews.

The state has been dragging their feet setting up the inspection or it would have been finished sooner.

Man it must suck not getting the inspection done when you want it to. When I got mine inspected, I actually called the DNR office and talked with the game warden who was pretty nice and he said he could do the inspection whenever I was ready and that same day about 20 minutes later he came, but then again not all departments are up to it. Good luck and you will get it.
From a distance. Unfortunately there are too many roads nearby or my yard wouldn't be half bad to hunt squirrels every now and then.
This platform is just inside the door. I left the flower on that mat for that extra masculine vibe when you walk in.
The perch on the left is in the back corner of the mew. The perch set-up on the right side of the picture isn't attached directly to the vertical 4x4 post (I had an old mailbox post laying around). There is a little space there to hopefully prevent feather damage.
The inspection will be on July 26th! I'll be happy as long as the federal permit comes in before October.

It's a nice looking mew and a nice place for it with plenty of shade to for weathering from the hot sun and if you're lucky you may even catch a squirrel in the yard. You never know. Is the door a single door. I'm curious because for my mew I like to have two doors with one opening on the left and the other on the right in case for some reason the bird doesn't get a chance to fly out and escape. That's a chance I don't like taking. You never know until it happens then you'll regret not having an extra door. I don't want to tell you how to build your mew because it's yours to build, but if it was mine I'd build an extra door space area, roughly 3ft square out from where the current door is for that extra security and peace of mind and maybe an area to hang your glove and things. Just my preference. But it's good to have the inspection done. I know you're dying to go trapping. That's the fun part. Good luck!
Thanks for the double door advice. My sponsor added double doors to his mews last season. I may do it as well once the inspection is out of the way. At this point I just want to get the paper work out of the way then I can concentrate on the details.

Passed the inspection without any real problems. The inspector said the bath pan needed to be at least 6" deep and mine was just barely so he suggested getting something deeper. He said the person handling the paperwork should have his inspection report by the end of the day!
"Oh happy day!!!" ;D ;D ;D
One step closer...
